Fabulous Photography Blogs You Should be Following

As visual creatives, there's so much we have to gain from following photoblogs. Some of the best blogs can be equivalent to open-access education, offering a lot of information.

Looking for shortcuts to improve your workflow? Need to enhance your work? Looking for technical advice about Lightroom or a camera? Don't know how to market your work to clients?  We can assure you that there's a blog post somewhere on the Internet to answer your questions!

We created our blog to help our followers stay in touch with them. And we're not the only ones. These days, there's a blog for everything or anything, so where do you start?

For a blog to be useful to you, it should have high-quality information, including photography, from reputable sources. We recommend you follow more than one blog, giving you broader access. Bloggers have their personalized interests and strengths.

Not all blogs are tutorials or educational but inspirational with their stunning imagery, worth following. Some blogs are highly specialized, while others are broad, covering various genres or topics.

No worries; we've done some homework on your behalf! Below are twenty beautiful photography blogs we like. They range from educational to inspirational, but they all have stunning imagery.

Photography Tutorial Blogs

  • Raj Photo Editing Tutorials: If you want to learn more about Photoshop, this one's for you. It's considered one of the best in its category. This tutorial vlog is broad in scope and offers everything from fundamentals to more advanced techniques.

  • Behind the Shutter: Improve your advanced photography skills with Behind the Shutter, one of the most comprehensive blogs we've seen. It is educational and offers a wide variety of valuable tips from topics like portrait lighting, achieving professional results, and even vignettes about photographers.

  • Dave Morrow Photography: If you've dreamed about quitting your day job and pursuing photography full time, this one might be of particular interest to you. Dave Morrow quit his corporate day job and chased his photography dreams of being a landscape photographer.  This terrific blog has tons of videos and how-to guides you'll find useful - from photography guides to color guides and lots of other tips. They'll teach you how to build your business if you're just starting out, including how to create a portfolio and how to sell your work

  • DIY Photography: This blog is excellent if you're on a budget (and who isn't?) or just starting out. Whether it's basic information to help you launch or more advanced tips, you'll find plenty on this blog.

  • Cambridge in Colour: This is both a sharing site and a blog and it's packed with information. It calls itself a "learning community for photographers". You'll learn how to do something and why you should do it. There's everything from specific technical details to macro-level information. You'll even find advice on the gear to buy.

Portrait and Photojournalism Photography Blogs

  • Humans of New York: If you're interested in storytelling and portraits, look no further than Humans of New York (which occasionally ventures further afield). Don't look here for self-help tips. This blog is all about poignant storytelling and portraits. These are man-on-the-street compelling human stories told in their own words.

  • Fiona Kelly Photography: Of course, we include a wedding photography blog! We've picked Fiona Kelly's blog. Beginning five years ago, she began journaling her work through the blog. She offers a lot of useful advice and things she's learned in her work. Her posts are as well crafted as her photography.

  • Joe McNally: Both his website and blog are fabulous. For example, a recent post discusses his collaboration with B&H as he uses the Nikon Z9. He walks you through his work and his ideas. He's both a great visual and written storyteller!

Still, he also offers a lot of tips on traveling mindfully and eco-sustainably.

  • Richard Bernabe: In June 2021, Richard Bernabe was named an Antarctic Ambassador by the IAATO, an organization promoting environmentally responsible travel to Antarctica. No surprise there. His photography blog is full of beautiful imagery and tons of advice. It's a visual feast for the eyes.

His imagery is stunning, and his blog remains - and will continue to be, it seems - filled with great information for photographers. We think he's well worth following!

Food Photography Blogs

  • Hello My Dumpling: Created by a freelance food photographer, stylist, and recipe developer based in Brooklyn, this beautiful blog (with a few famous celebrity faces on its pages)  is part food recipes, part photo journal, and part travel.
